40 years!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! 40 years! wow! What a great example you two have been in your married life. I am happy to be called your daughter. I wish you many more wonderful years together!

Homeschool fun--- Hope and I are enjoying our time together for homeschooling. I think she enjoys the 2 hours of one on one time she gets with me each day. Right now she is practicing her handwriting--not one of her favorite subjects. (It wasn't mine either) She has done so well in learning how to read... lots of praise and encouragement help her out. We have also fallen in love with Five in a Row... our unit study program where we read one story 5 days in a row and do some sort of project each day with it; i.e. social studies, language arts, math, science and art. Our story this week is Madeline. So far we have studied about Paris, France; architecture, vocabulary (solemn, appendix, and disaster) and today will be our math lesson on grouping and dividing--too fun.

Claire is doing ok... still having a couple of seizures now and then. They are actually more seizure than spasms... the doctor says that is actually a good thing, it means her brain is getting into a more organized pattern. She has also stopped having so much of the miscellaneous random movements---she now is more still, centered and more normal arm and leg movements. I do believe this week we will probably be adding the drug Vigabatrin (only available from Canada) to her list of medicines.

Sweet Molly--she is on the move now---rolling all over. The other night I had left her on her quilt to go help Hope with some thing, when we returned to the room, Molly had rolled half way across the room and has stuck up against her car seat! Wow! Hope was so excited.

I have to share about Saturday morning... Molly was napping, Russell at work, and it was pouring rain (our share of hurricane Ike)... so Hope and Claire and I went out the porch and sat down and watched it rain and then we did our favorite thing---began singing all of those precious childrens songs... "deep and wide," "this little light of mine," "Jesus loves me," and on and on. It was a great time with 2 of my favorite girls, out enjoying God.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes - God knew what he was doing when he put your daddy and me together in Plainview, TX, back in 1958. Ten years later - voila - a wonderful wedding on a beautiful September day. Then He blessed us with two great kids - with His grace, lots of love, some discipline and lots and lots of mistakes and forgiveness - here we are 40 years later.

Can hardly wait to see all of you next week. I miss all my girls.

love,
mom
